Crowds which gave an ovation to General Hindenburg, included many soldiers carrying flags and old National colours, singing war songs and shouting “Down with the Republic,” and maltreaing Jhe opposing factions. General HindenTmrg acknowledged the popular goodwill, but showed embarrassment.
