A fine day yesterday favoured those interested in the sale of various sections on the Wataroa Fiat, with tlie result that all lots offered changed hands.
Buyers came from as far south as Bruce Bay and from, as far north as Nelson. • Considerable interest was shown iii the saies, especially in the Wallace Estate. The following are the details, as sripplied by Messrs W. Jeffries and Co.:— Lot 1, 1145 acres L.1.P., with 100 acres Mis. Lease thrown in was sold to M. Patrick of Tatare at £6 2s 6d. Bidding started at £3 per acre and reached the amount stated. Lot 2, 117 acres freehold with 372 acres L.1.P., known as “The Vines Farrii” being Mr J. Wallace’s homestead was sold to the. same buyer at £l2 10s per acre. Bidding started at £B. Lot 3, 269 acres, L.I.P, known as Mr Sam Wallace’s homestead, sold at £9 acre to Mr W. H .Ohinn, Matainui. Bidding started at £B. Lot 4, 170 acres Renewable Lease, with M.L., of 80 acres, at £l2 per acre to Wm Levett, of Kokatalii. Bidding started at £8 per acre. Lot 5, Perth River Run, 31,500 acres to Mr. H. Heveldt, Matainui at £25.
MISCELLANEOUS ~ , The following prices were realised for tlie live stock:— 4yr. old bullocks up to £l6 15s. 3 and 3'jyr. old bullocks at £l4 to £ls. V .• - Fat and forward heifers at £ll los. 62 woolly hoggets 33s 6d. 96 ewes with lambs thrown in, reached £2 10s 3d. Messrs W. Jeffries and Co. report the sale of Mr John Butler’s section of 10 acres, opposite Wataroa factory in two lots. Mr R. Foster being the purchaser of the corner lot of 6 acres at £2B 10s per acre . Lot 2 of 4 acres was knocked down to Mr Thomas Nolan, Matainui, at £25 per acre. The sale of live and dead stock is being continued to-day in the Wallace Estate.
Thte want of public , accommodation at tlie Wataroa saleyards yesterday was very severely felt, tbe numerous visitors to the district attending the sale being sorely put to know where to put tlieir heads for tlie niglit. Several had to ride into Okarito, 14 miles away, while others had to go to Hari Hari, north, a distance of 18 miles, others again depending on tbe kindness of residents for accommodation.
