fPEK PRESS ASSOCIATION.—OOPYBIGHT.] A SKIN TROUBLE. WELLINGTON, Nov. 13. A skin trouble developing in the form of red pimples on the face and body with a troublesome itch, is prevalent.

It is believed to be introduced by returning troops. It is highly contagious and isolation is,necessary.

RETURNING TROOPSHIPS. WELLINGTON, This Day. ' The Defence Department has been, advised that the Arawa, with returning draft No. 293, will arrive at Auckland on the morning of the 15th inst. Additional sailings include:— Ruahine, left 3rd November, via Cape; due at Auckland about 22nd December. The draft comprises 382 troops, 46 civilians, 141 women, and 41 children. Rimutalia left Bth November, via Cape; due at Wellington about 2t7h December; draft comprises 492 troops, 9 civilians, 19 women and 9 children. When the Rimutaka left, there were still about 900 New Zealand troops in the United Kingdom, and 200 wives. BREACH OF PROMISE. AUCKLAND, This Day. At the Supreme Court, Hetty Cooper a stewardess, sued Alfred Bysarton, chief - steward of the steamer Daphne, claiming £2OO damages for nllegod breach of -promiso of marriage. The jury found a verdict for plaintiff for £165 damages' .

St .Matthews Church choir have decided to resume their places in the church next Sunday, and to protest to the Board of Nomination against the disregard of the congregational petition in respect to the appointment of thp Vicar. PRISON APPOINTMENTS. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Mr C. E. Matthews has been appointed Controller General of Prisons and Mr M. Hawkins has tyeep promoted Chief Inspector.
