LrEit PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COi’I'KIGHT.J NELSON CANDIDATE ■ NELSON, November 5. Mr J. G. Trice, the official Labour candidate fox’ tlic Nelson seat, opened his campaign to-niglit. He spoke before a large audcince. Mr Price outlined the policy of the Labour Party, lie was accorded a unanimous vote of confidence. A LIBERAL CANDIDATE. TIMARU, November 5. Mr C. J. Talbot (Liberal) opened liis campaign for the Temuka seat at lemuka to-night, speaking for a couple of hours, Speaking of nationalisation, lie said, both coal and local shipping might be nationalised. The employers and employees should be brought together to secure tlieir co-operatoin. There was much" need for improvement in education, and more money must be found for salaries to secure the best men and women. As to land, while the Government was sub-dividing some land, other individuals were still aggregating. The remedy was a steep and stiff graduated tax and compulsory residence on pastoral lots. More industries were needed and a Minster of Industries to assist them. After the soldiers were all returned and settled, a cautious immigration policy would be required. Encouragement was needed by wheat growers. Importation of wheat should’ be made unnecessary. A general revision of taxation was necessary.
