OTHER. BUSINESS. \ The Council agreed to the amendment made by the House in The Chattels Transfer Amendment Bill. jSir F. Bell moved th© second reading of the Treaties of Peace Bill. It was read a second time and with the External Affairs Bill, which provides for the setting up of Department of External Affairs, was. put through Committee.

j The Public Health Amendment Bil j and Expeditionary Forces Voting Bil j were read a second time. The Coun. I cil adjourned at 4.45. p.m.

| THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. Tl’ie Undesirable Immigrants Bill was introduced by Governor’s message and read a first time. COMPENSATION TO DAIRY PRODUCERS. Hon. Wi F. Massey stated Government had decided to compensate dairy producers, who during the war had supplied the local market at less than the export price, to the extent of the difference between the local price and export value. The amount involved was something like £170,000.

The remainder of the afternoon sitting w r as taken up with a discussion on reports and Ministers answers to questions. A evening sitting. At the evening sitting, the following bills were passed all stages—National Provident Fund Amendment; State Forests Amendments; Counties Amendment; Police Offences Amendment Bill. The House rose at 1.14 a.m.
