The Soviet authorities hav e taken most drastic measures to keep down rebellion among the people. A Bolshevik wireless, it is stated, admits that a plebiscite taken in Moscow among the workmen, resulted in a majority for Koltohak.
The Bolsheviks are reported to be Beitreathig on their whole Siberian front.
A message from Reval states that Yudenitch is within twelve miles of Petrograd, and news ®f the fall of the city is expected at any moment.
The “Daily Express” Helsingfors correspondent states that it is unofficially reported that Yudenitch captured Petrograd on Wednesday night. Bolshevik messages and propaganda are still emanating from the wireless -station at Tsanskoe iSelo, makng it difficult to believe that Yudenitch lias arrived there as previously stated. A Bolshevik wireless communique dated last night admits that a British enemj’ squadron, consisting of transports and warships has entered Kuporia Bay.
The capture of Kronstadt is still unconfirmed. y
The report is now generally believed to be premature.
REPORT FROM FINLAND. HELSINGFORS, October 17. • Yudenitch has captured Krasnoze-elo. It is reported that the British have entered Kronstadt after the garrison capitulating. It is reported tlia. the Bolshviks in .the neighbourhood of lvronstadt drowned 2000 belonging to the upper classes.
WHITE FLAG AT KRONSTADT. (Received This Day at 3 am) HELSINGFORS, Oct. 17. A Finnish newspaper states that Kronstadt hoisted the white fia-g at seven in the evening. PETROGRAD FALLING. (Received this day at 8 a m.) HELSINGFORS, Oct. 18. It is stated that a deputation of Petrograd workers met Yudenitch and asked him not to bombard Petrograd. They promised to help against the Bolsheviks. PARIS, Oct. 18. The Supremo Council has received amessag that Yudenitch expects to take Petrograd in two days.
RUSSIAN REPORTS. (Received This Day at 8 a.m.) LONDON, ctober 17. The Letts with the support of Allied warships captured Dtinamunde fortress, and took prisoner five hundred Germans. A Bolshevik wireless admits the abandonment of Gatchina and says an artillery battle is proceeding northward of Krasdoeselo. A communique mentions that Deniken with considerable forces, supported by armoured cars, tanks and aeroplanes, has begun an advance in Thirtsin region. Deniken announces a further advance towards Moscow and is now in the vicinity of Brianik. He refers to fierce fighting eastward and south-eastward of Voronezh, indicating the Bolshevist resistance is stronger. The. Australian Press Association learns that great Bolshevik , attacks against Tsaritzin failed, after two days fierce fighting. ' Severe losses were inflicted by Wrangel Cossacks in the Don and, Khoper regions and upwards of three thousand Bolsfieviks were taken prisoner, including a rifle battalion.

'lnvestors in Britain have sunk much money in Russian mining and oil shares. Oil properties in Caccasus have suffered little material damage The chief need is labour and facilities for distributing oil and remitting the proceeds to Britain French investors are the biggest holders in Russian Governmnt securities, a thousand million of which has been in default since 1917. The resumption of interest payments on this sum w«uld largely relieve French exchange and thus remove the hindrance in Anglo-French trade.

(Received This Day at 8 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 18. A Moscow wireless transmits Trotsky’s, manifesto to Soviet Russia. It ridicules the north-western Russian, advanceHo describes Yudeniteli, Balakoviteh, and Rodzianko as on a blood drunken trip,, and Von der Goltz is repainted into Hetman ,instructed by stock exchange sources of all lands and seeking the aid of Monarchist bands to attack the Soviets from Baltic countries. He says “we will not surrender Petrograd. Our trops are going to its assistance. We must smash the skulls of Yudeniteli’s bands and Anglo-French Imperialists.”
