IMPROVED TRAIN SERVICE.
FAVOURABLE CONSIDERATION PROMISED. Recently the Westland Chamber of Commerce noting that the railway timetables were to be revised as from Ist December, took steps to make represenTations to the Governmnt on the master. In addition to writing to the Manager of New Zealand Railways, all the West Coast and Nelson members of Parliament were communicated with, as well as ,also, the West Coast and Nelson Chambers of Commerce. The desire was to have a daily service between the Coast and Canterbury for three months of the summer, and also to improve tne through connection between Hokitika and Reefton, and on to Nelson. The Hon. Michel and Messrs Sedd >n, Holland, and. Field M.P’s have replied already promising their co-opera; on. and last night the Chamber of Commerce received the following telegram from the Hon. H. L. Michel. “I have interviewed Minister of Railwavs, (Hon. Massey), in reference to necessity of daily service between Christchurch and Hokitika-. 'He s ated in reply that he will favourably cons d--er the matter.’ , This is very satisfactory news ami indicates that an important improvement will be effected in the through Canterbury service.
