PRESENTATION SOCIAL AT BLUE SPUR.

(Contributed.) A large crowd assembled at Blue Spur Public Hall on Friday list, the beeftsion being to present illuminated addresses to the Returned Soldiers. The hall was tastefully decorated with flags and evergreens by the committee. Mr Cameron on presenting the addresses to the soldiers gave a neat speech, expressing the pleasure of the people at seeing the boys safe home again, and wished them long life and a speedy marriage. He congratulated them on coming home single, with the exception of one, Gunner D. Feeney, whose bride arrives shortly. Continuing he said that the hoys present were somo of tho finest lads in New Zealand. He then called for three cheers for the boys and tlioir parents. Private McQuillan returned thanks on behalf of his soldier comrades and thanked oiie and all for tlia pleasant evening. He also thanked tho Arahura Committee and then called for three cheers for Mr Cameron which were heartily given.

After a scrumptious supper provided by the ladies, dancing was recommenced and was indulged in until the small hours of the morning. During the evening songs were rendered by the following. Miss Gillooly and Miss Lizzie Sheriff, a' duet by Messrs Shand ' And Dofrell, Mr McKernick, and Mr Angus Duncan, recitation (by Mr G. Veale, and musical monologue by Mr Phil. Kortegast. Excellent music was supplied by Miss Tweeny Gillooly of Ngahere, with extras by Miss Madge Morgan of Stafford. The duties of M.G. wore efficiently carried out by Mr. W. Adams, ably assisted by Mr Bernhardt. Tho singing of “For They are Jolly Good Fellows’” ; “Auld Lang Syne” and “God Save the King” brought' a very- enjoyable evening to a close .
