DENIKEN’S POSITION. STOCKHOLM, Oct. 11. According to newspaper reports Deni ken has just suffered a severe defeat. The ißolsheviks have retaken Kieff. The [Bolsheviks in a wireless message make no such claim.

General Raivlinson leaves North Russia to-morrow. The evacuation of the Murmansk will be completed in a few days.
GERMAN ADVANCE IN RIGA. ■HELSINGFORS, October 12. • Reuter’s eoiTespondent reports that the situation at Riga is unchanged since Friday evening . > The town was considerably damaged by the bombardment, and parts are in ruins. An enemy attempt to cross a - bridge was repulsed. There are many civilian casualties as the result of an attack by aircraft Bormondt’s forces are advancing on a. broad front between the Dvina and , the Gulf.
VON DER GOLTZ AGREES' TO GO, PARIS, October 12.
“Le Temps” Berlin correspondent states that von der Goltz, has undertaken that his troops shall evacuate the Baltic States including a detachment at ißischof, which joined the army, attacking Riga.
RIGA ATTACK. * (Received this day at 8 a.m.) LONDON, October 13. • A telegram from Riga states General Bermondt had announced his intention to enter Riga a.t midnight on Thursday. The plan was upset by the sturdy resitance of bare-footed Letts who succeeded in filling the breaches in their line of resistance.
BOMBARDING RIGA. (Received This Day at 8.45 a.m.)
• LONDON, October 13. The "Daily Telegraph’s” Helsingfors correspondent states General Bermondt on Saturday carried the district of Riga on the left bank of the river, the city being greatly damaged by Friday’s bom bardment. A majority of the houses along the railway were destroyed. Many of the inhabitants were killed or wounded. The majority of the attackers were Germans.
ON LUG A FRONT. 'Received this day at 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, October 13. Yudenditch’s troops crossed th e Luga with many tanks, which were most effective against the Bolsheviks. An airman flew simultaneously a long distance over the enemies lines bombing and wrecking trains and disorganising • supplies. The Bolsheviks retreated to Yamburg and they are about to withdraw as Psychoff is seriously menaced on the flank.
DENIKEN’S REPORT. (Received This Dav a* 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 13. Hostilities between Deniken and General Petloura are progressing. Deniken reports the defeat of Petloura’s ninth division, with the occupation of several villages in Zhmerka direction and capture of fifteen hundred Bolsheviks on Don front. Don Cossacks are successfully advancing on the left bank i>f the Don. T ivelve hundred Bolsheviks were captured on the vicinity of Medievitz River. A Bolshevik battalon was taken prisoner in Pavlovsk region. There as a fierce struggle near Orel ,in beating off eighteen regiments of Reds, 3500 prisoners being taken, also four guns were captured off Chernisgoff, in the region of Kieff, is reported.
BERMONDT’S INVITATION. {Received This hat at 9.30. a.m.) COPENHAGEN. Oct. 13. General Bermondt sent a wireless message to the Commander of the Lettish Army, proposing a truce to avoid bloodshed and the invitation of negotiations at Mitau for joint action against the Bolsheviks.
ENTENTE BLOCKADE. ('Received this dav at 9.20 a.m.) BERLIN, Oct. 13. The Entente in announcing a blockade, says the fact that Von der Golta on visiting Berlin was permitted to return to the Baltic States, is a sign that Germany is pursuing underhand plans. The blockade will cease only on a satisfactory report from the new entente Mission controlling Germany’s actions in the Baltic States.
