HELSINGFORS, Oct. 12

The North-west Russians under General Glazeneff have begun a new offensive at Lugo, river, supported by Tanks. After a clever feint, they recaptured Yamburg© with four Bolshevik regiments. Other Bolshevik losses in the last few day include 2,000 men, and an entire staff division. LETTLAND EXPLAINS. GERMAN DOUBLE GAME. LONDON, October 12. The Government of lias telegraphed to the Peace Conference, that the German troops in Courland have done their utmost to prevent the Ljtts fighting the Bolsheviks. When the Letts recently began a fresh offensive, they freed a considerable area of Bolsheviks, but the Germans attacked them in the rear on the Bth of October.

The Lett Government begs the Allies to take immediate decisive measures to force Germany to conform to the Peace Treaty s which she has thus violated.

The Lett- appeal concludes by declaring that an alliance lias been formed between Germany and Germanophile Russia, which threatens not merely the independence of Lettland, but the peace of the whole world. The Lettish Government will defend their independence to the last drop of blood.

ALLIES PLAN

TO BLOCKADE GEMANY. PARIS, Oct.* 12.

The Supremo Allied Council are fully alive to the necessity of firm measures regarding the Baltic provinces. It is understood that arrangements are complete to enforce a rigorous blockade in the event of Marshal Foch’s note failing io produce the desired effect.

BRITISH OPINION. LONDON, Oct. 12

The British authorities believe the German troops in the Baltic provinces are determined to march on Petrograd and then proclaim themselves the saviours of Russia.

ANTI-BOLSHEVIKS. PARIS, Oct. 12. “Le Matin” had an interview with M. Wendziagotski, formerly Commissary General of tho Russian army who has just returned from Russia. He stated that two anti-Bolshevik moves were in existence. The first was purely pro-German, and is conducted by Von der Goltz, and the Russia-Baltic troops, who arc controlled by a ministry sitting at Berlin, and including members of tho Duma. The second movement is the Russian volunteers under Deni ken. Koltcliak’s advices from Moscow state Deniken’s successes have greatly perturbed the Bolsheviks, who mado tho news a pretext for a veritable reign of terror.
