From Canterbury . Chamber of Commerce forwarding a copy of the 00th annual-report, the Diamond Jubilee of the Chamber. —Received .with ,thanks. Accounts to the amount of £l3 10/were passed for payment. It was reported that the annual meeting of the Chamber would be held next month, and Messrs Wild, Butler and Houston wore asked to prepare information affecting dairy produce, timber arid stock of the 'district, for the annual report.

An. informal discussion regarding industries took place, a suggestion being made tliat with the introduction of electric power it would be possible to establish manufacturing industries in Westland. The tanning of leather with a view to' establishing a boot factory vas mentioned as one field of action. In this connection it was stated that tlio ’ mrico’of leather was still‘soaring, and that the cost of boots was going to mount higher and higher. The meeting closed at 9 p.nt.
