Sir F. D. Bell moved the second reading of the Bill, which was carried on division by 19 to 3. COMPANIES ACT. The Companies Amendment Bill went through all stages and was passed. BILLS OF EXCHANGE. The Bills of Exchange Amendment Bill was read a second time and referred to the .Statutes Revision Committee. A COLLEGE SITE. The Auckland University College Sits Bill was put through the final stages and passed. The Council adjourned at 4.28.

THE HOUSE. THE BUDGET DEBATE CONCLUDED.

The House met at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. In the House, the debate on the Budget was continued be Messrs Talbot, Sykes ( Hornsby, Hudson, Hon. Hina, Smith (Taranaki), Payne, Smith (Waimarino), Jennings, Rhodes (Thames), Mander. Rt. Hon. Massey then replied at 12.50. . The first item of the Estimates was passed and the House rose at 12.58 till 7.30. on Monday evening.
