Tlio weather was fine, but the-going was heavy for the first day of the Geraldine races. There a good attendance. The tote took £9,558 10s against last year’s one day receipts of £8,433 10s. The results were as follows :
GERALDINE CUP.—Paroa 1, Hiero 2, Caverock 3. Won by a length. Time 2.17 35.
GERALDINE TROT.—Lockie Wood 1, Lewis McKinney 2. Peter Dilion 3. Won by four lengths. Time 3.42. OH APE HACK H’D’C’P.—Orange Bitters 1, Eight Bells 2, Hands Off 3. Won by a length. Time 1.5 1-5. BELFIELD WELTER.—Starland i, Merton 2, Bellshire 3. AA’on half a length. Time 1.35 2-5.
ORARI TROT.—Rangitata Lass 1, Emperor 2, Peter Dillon 3. AA’on by two lengths. Time 3.9. RANGITATA HANDICAP.—CharIey 1, Mythology 2, Braid 3. AVon by a nedc. Time 1.21 1-5.
SECOND DAY’S RESULTS. ORARI, This Day. For tile second day of Geraldine races, the weather is fine with a cold wind, and track better.

STEWARD’S STAKES.—Bellshire 1, Tremena '2, Post Haste 3. Also started Stray Shot. AVon by two lengths. Time 1.19 1-5. PRESIDENT HANDICAP.—Hiero 1, Merton 2, Caverock 3. Scr. Bellshire. Won by a long neck, third three lengths away. Time 1.48. DOMAIN TROT—Rangitita Lass 1, Coe field ,2, AA r ildbriar 3. Scr. Peter Dillon. Won byi four lengths. Time 3.47.

AVANGANUI, Sept. 25,
For the first day there was fine weather for the AVanganui meeting. The Totalisator handled £34,416 as against £24,329 at the last meeting held in 1916.
