There arc serious disturbances in the district of Totes, Hungary where a number of inflamed miners proclaimed a proletariat dictatorship, disarmed the polico, hoisted the red ' flag, wrecked houses and mal-treated civil officials. Later in the day five hundred gendarme arrived and overcame the mutineers, after three hours furious fighting. Seven were killed and twenty-five wounded. The incident is regarded as a sign of the growing despair of the workers. GROWN RENOUNCED.' (Received This Day at 11.15 a.m.) •PARIS, September 23. The (‘Matin” states cx-Emperor Charles renounces the Austrian Crown. COAL SHORTAGE IN VIENNA. (Received this dav at 9.20 a.m.) VIENNA, Sept. 22.
A shortage of coal has paralysed the city. The trams have been stopped and restaurants and theatres closed at eight o’clock at night. Factories have only six hours supply and are closing to-day, rendering idle 250,000 workers. Communist workers arc taking advantage of the chaos. i
