Stevenson, F. W. Feddersen, W. H. Shannon, W. E. Richards, J. RHiekson, and S. J. Preston, (hon. secretary). The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE
From Braiid and Johnston asking permission to cross part of education reserve on Shallow Rush, with a tram line.—Received; referred to Board for favourable consideration.
From Miss Chesterman, asking for leave of absence owing to illness. —Received. From Miss Laycock thanking Committee for consideration shown.—Received. From Peace Celebrations Committee conveying grateful thanks for assistance rendered by Committee, teachers, and others in connection with the Peace Celebrations and complimenting Committoo oil excellent work achieved.
Received. From Canterbury Education Board regretting inability to obtain additional class accommodation, but asking Committee to take a recommendation as to best means of utilising present space.—Received ; referred to Chairman and Rector.
From same in reference to carriage of children from Kumara to station, recommending Committee to advise paronts to have children conveyed and promising assistance. —Received ; further representations to be made. From same, stating it liad been decided to continue tlie temporary assistant teacher in the secondary school for the present quarter. —Received. From same re Arbor Day expenditure. —Received. _
From Teacher, South Spit, reporting average attendance for month as 13, out of roll of 16; drawing attention to need of painting the school. —Received From Rector reporting average attend ance was 285 primary, 62 secondary ; total 345 with a roll number of 307 and 68—375. Inspector Valentine was to make his inspection of tlie secondary school on Tuesday next..—Received. The question of Dominion Day observance was left to the Chairman to decide.
Accounts amounting to £3 2s 4d were passed for payment. The Visiting Committee, (Mr Richards) reported some minor requirements.—Received and approved: Messrs Feddersen and Hickson were appointed for next month. Plans for two shelter sheds were submitted and Mr Stevenson was authorised to at once proceed with the erection of one of them.—Received. The Committee rose at 8.30 p.m.
