THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, This Day. The Legislative Council met yesterday at 2.30. p.m. BILLS PASSED. The Chattels Transfer Amendment Bill, (providing for excluding from an affidavit of renewal of an increment, the statement of amount due by the mortgagee), Public Authority, (party wall), Empowering Bill (under which a corporation may band itself as a party to party wall agreements), and Official Appointments and Documents Bill, (which relieves the Governor of the execution of a mass of documents), were put through all stages, and were

passed. The Council rose at 2.30 p.m., until next day.

THE HOUSE.

The . House met yesterday at 2.30. p.m. RAILWAYS COMMISSION. Hon. W. F. Massey announced that Messrs J. P. Maxwell, J. Marchbanks, and W. D. Hunt had accepted posithe recent management to enquire into the recent management of the railways. The. order of reference will be laid before the House and the Commissioners will be asked to report during the session. LATE JOSEPH IVESS.

Mr Massey moved the usual motion of condolence in connection with the death of the late Mr Joseph Ivess and at 5 ocloelc the House adjourned till 7.30 p.m. as a mark of respect to the memory of deceased. ‘INDUSTRIES REPORT. The whole evening sitting was taken up with a discussion on a report brought down by the Industries Committee. The debate was adjourned till next Wednesday. The House rose at 12.25 a.m.
