An action in which Catherine Weir claimed £2500 damages from the Now Zealand Coal and Oil Company as the result of the death of her husband, who wa>' fatally injured in the Kaitangata mine, conclludcd to-day. The jury awarded £1045 for plaintiff, and £455 for her child.
Mr J. McGregor then moved for judgment for defendant company on the ground that the jury had found that eir had been riding on a haulage rope without written authority to do so. Mr Justice Sim said that Mr McGregor could move to this effect within .14 days.

Tie telegram stated that the victims were two old Maori people, a woman Mearaaa Tokemoana, being shot dead and her husband, Kemaera Haraiua, receiving one bullet in the breast and two in tlie left arm.
