YORKSHIRE DEADLOCK

LONDON, Aug. 9

The Coal Controller and Sir J. Horno conferred witli the representatives of the South Yorkshire Coalowners and the Yorkshire Miners’ Federa tion.

The General Secretary of the Miners Federation states the conference proved abortive, resulting in a deadlock*

THE BAKERS’ DISPUTE.

LONDON, Aug. 9.

The Provincial Bakers’ dispute have temporarily been settled, pending arbitration.

A deadlock continues in London, how ever. The masters there refuse to make any compromise towards meeting tlie men’s request to lessen night work which the masters say they regard as essential.

RAILWAY DISPUTES OVER, LONDON, Aug. 9

The railwayman who struck in sym patliv with tho police, at Nine Elms have decided to return to work. A normal service on the Western Railway has therefore been restored. The tube railway dispute lias practically ended.

SCOTLAND YARD STATEMENT LONDON, Aug. 9.

A further statement lias now been issue to the effect that Scotland Yard declares that there is really no definite evidence, of Bolshevik activities in England. The statement says such tendency is limited to the dissemination of extreme revolutionary propaganda. Scotland Yard found previously numerous instances of distribution of funds besides the particular case published, but Scotland Yard could give no details because it would interfere with Scotland Yard’s investigations. The police were keeping a close watch on ports, in order to exclude undesirable aliens but a few had got through their net.
