FLAG OF LEAGUE OF NATIONS.

ON EX-GERMAN SHIP IN SYDNEY

The steamer Ypiranga, which arrived at Sydney from Liverpool, via ports recently, flies the now flag of the League of Nations, and is said to be the first vessel which has entered Sydney Harbour under these colours.

The Ypiranga is a vessel of 8103 tons, and was previously a HamburgAmerican liner.-She is one of the German mercantile marine which were handed over to the Allies after the Armistice had been signed. She was taken to England by a German crew, which was afterwards replaced by a British one. While some of the surrendered German merchantmen are at present flying the red ensign, those which are. run ning on behalf of the Liverpool White Star line are under the League of Nations flag, which consists of three horizontal bars of white, blue, and white.

The Ypiranga will take back from' Australia a number of interned enemy subjects, as will also the steamer Ilio Negro, at present on her way to Sydney.
