A disastrous fire occurred last night. Huglian’s Garage, and Pitcher Bros.’ cycle depot were totally destroyed. From indications the outbreak started in Pitcher’s, and from there spread to Hughan’s. The whole stock of both premises was lost. In the garage were thirty cars, seven of which belonged to Hughan. All were destroyed. The fire was discovered at 1.10 by the occupants of a motor lorry returning from Martinborough, but both buildings were too far gone to save.

Hughan’s insurances are a little over £6OO on buildings and stock, and Pitcher’s £2OOO on stock.

Hughan estimates his loss at between £3,000 and £4,000, and Pitcher .his loss at £2,000.
