I TIIE REASON WHY. j PARIS, June 26. i It is learned from an authoritative source, that when the armistice was arranged, Britain asked for the surrenj tier of the German ships. The French ■ and Americans favoured internment, in a | neutral port. Marshal Foeli urged that the armistice be arranged without delay pointing out that the asking of the surrender of the ships might cause a delay with the consequent great dnily loss of life. The British realised there was a reason in the arguments | and accepted the compromise to intern them at a British port.
