MARLBOROUGH AGITATION. BLENHEIM, This Day

| At a meeting of the Marlborough I Land Railway League, the president (R. F. Goulter) advocated the Government borrowing £10,000,000 to complete the trunk lines of the Dominion within ten years, and that an effort be made to complete the more important ones in five years, the money to be borrowed at intervals as required, and if sufficient labour bo not avail- | able, that Government be asked to get the necessary men by immigration. He considered the South Island Main Trunk should take precedence, and that the Otira Tunnel should be completed as soon as possible. The meeting decided to reorganise the League under the title of S'outli Island Main Trunk League, and to conduct a vigor, ous agitation until the objects were attained.

BUEGLARY AT ROTORUA. ROTORUA, This Day.

The Tourist Enquiry Office, the premises of G. McDowell, (auctioneer), and F. C. Davidson, (ironmonger), were burgled last night. Nothing was taken from the Tourist Office, the cash being locked in a safe. About £3 was taken from McDowell’s and £7 from Davidson’s place. The places were throughly ransacked, but the safes were not attempted. The Tourist Office and David son’s were entered by forcing a window and McDowell’s by forcing the front door.
