FIRE BRIGADE
The annual meeting of the Ross Volunteer Fire Brigade took place in the Town Clerk’s office oil Friday. Present.—Captain Hoiilahan, Firemen Gardiner, Fellows, Phillips, Mason and Sec. Peebles. The minutes of the lart annual meeting were read and confirmed. The following report was presented :
“At the annual meeting of the Brigade held oii i2th June, 191 S, the lollowing officers Were elected tor the ensuing term,- viz : Captain, T. Houlahan; Lieutenant, J .K. McKey: Foreman, A. Mason; Hose Officer. W. Clarke;, See- and Trea. A W. Peebles ; Auditor, W. Clarke.
During the year the following ’Oi»g service medals etc. were presented. to members of the brigade : Capt Houlahan, extra two years bar; Lieut McKey, extra two years bar; Fireman Clarke, extra two years bar; Fireman Mason, 5 years medal; Sec, Peebles,s years medal; Fireman Allan, 5 years medal; Fireman Griitberlet, 5 years medal : Fireman Foster, 3 years Certificate ; Fireman Fiichanan, 3 years Certificate ; Fireman Gardiner, 3 years Certificate, 5 years medal, and 3 two years bars. .a.
The news of the successful conclusion of the great war that had been raging for over four years was received with gratification and great rejoicing. Four of our members had enlisted for active service, two of which have returned and taken up their civilian work again. Fireman J. Allan has also returned, but is still in convalesceut hospital. We wish him a speedy aud complete recovery. Fireman R. Foster is still absent on service.
The work of the brigade has been very light during the past year, being called out only twice during that period. In each case the trouble was a chimney catching fire, no damage being done on either occasion.”
The financial position as disclosed by the balance sheet is good. We started the year with a credit balance of £2 16s rod, and now have a credit balance of £lO 17s qd. Several useful practices have been held during the term and all brigade gear is in good order aud condition. Report received, approved and adopted.
The election of officers for the ensuing term resulted as follows: j Captaiu, T. Houlahan ; Lieutenant, W. McKey; Foreman, A Mason ; Hose Officer, W. Clarke; Secretary . and Treasurer. A. W. Peebles; Auditor, W. Clarke. i Resolved the Brigade meet on the second Wednesday in each month ! at 7.30 p.m. j Resolved to hold wet practice on ! Tuesday, 17th inst at 7 p.m. j
Messrs O. Hahn and F. Wiiliams 1 were elected members of the Brigade ! to fill two vacancies.
