Admission free. —Advt. Two fine young Hereford bulls wore landed from the Paeroa to-day to the order of Messrs Butler Bros., Ruatapu. The animals came from Messrs Cron Bros, run, Haast river. The junior competition was opened oil Saturday afternoon in wet weather, when the first of the fixtures was played between Rivals and Kiwi teams. Owing to the slippery nature of the ball and the state of the ground, the game was mostly a forward one. Heenan and Kortegast scored for Rivals and AV. Stephens scored for Kiwis. The goal kicking was a failure in each instance, Rivals winning by 6to 3. Air D. Dowell was referee.
