(From a Correspondent.)

The weather on Friday night week was perfect as the most fastidious could wish, and the objective such a worthy one, doubtless were the factors that drew together from all parts of the district those who wished to honour five returned heroes: Sergt H. Brown ptes T Brown, R. Blown, J. Brown, and C Schroder at Blue Spur Hall. The room was artistically decorated for the occa. sion with festoons of greenery, Chinese lanterns, hunting and mottoes, and reflected great credit on the enthusiastic Ikhkl of energetic workers who promot ed the social.

Proceedings commenced with the light fantastic merrily tripped to the music discoursed bv Mrs Harcourt, while Mr Adams, assised by Mr Bernhard in their usual efficient stylo had charge of the floor.

During the evening, songs were discoursed by .Miss Jones, Messrs Henderson and Bernhard, and a humorous recitation given by Miss Costello added considerably to the evening’s enjoyment. After a few hours had been pleasautly spent supper was announced and the good tilings provided by the ladies done ample justice to.

ilr F. McGregor took advantage of the interval and on behalf of the Committeo and residents of Bluespur extended to the boys a' hearty welcome, home. He was proud to know Westland could send away such splendid specimens of manhood and wished them all prosperity for the future. At the conclusion of the speech “For .They are Jolly Good Fellows,” and God Save The King” were sung.

Sergeant 11. Brown in responding on behalf of the returned soldiers thanked the chairman for his very kind remarks. They had ajl gone forth to do their duty to the best of their ability and were all happy and proud to be back in their native land which was second to none.

The function finally concluded and it was voted one of the most enjoyable over held in the district.
