IN IRELAND.

[AUSTRALIAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION]

(Received This Dav at ff.ls a.m.) LONDON, May 15

Delayed.—Lord Hartsford, in the House of Commons, moved condemning military rule in Ireland, and urged Government to grant self-government and self-determination.

Lord Cavendish Bcntineck supported the motion. He said he had completely changed his opinion, and believed if the Government thrust the responsibility on the people of Ireland to manage their own affairs it would develop national in. dividuality and would result in contentment and the best governed community in the Empire. The Chief Secretary was engaged in a mere scuffle with the Irish people. Mr McPherson said the Government had dealt with an enormous patience with tho Irish-American delegation. Government were anxious to find a solution. Ireland .to-day was more prosperous than any country in tho world. Constitutionalism must be revived. Government could not parley with the Sinn Feinn, which was endeavouring to disrupt the Empire.
