A Westport resident on Friday received a telegram from Base Records, Wclington, “regretting t° inform her that her sou was in hospital in England, suffering from influenza.” The telegram was handed to the said son, who has been back in New’ Zealand for a fortnight. He had been in hospital in England, for a short time, prior to leaving on return to Westport.
The Westport “News” says the Ruth, ledge family suffered a very sad loss on Friday, by the- death of their son, Percy, after an accident on Thursday in tlie Stockton mine, this being the second member of the family, to meet his death in this tragic manner. The deceased was only 23 years of age.
