The Government Moot Commilteo is consulting Mr Hughes and Mr Massey regarding the best means of increasing Australasian imports to Britain. Sir J. Robertson (Queensland AgcnL General) points out that the war-time losses in refrigerated tonnage had been practically replaced. Ho expects the Continental demand largely to increase in the immediate future, with prices substantially above pre-war rates. On the other hand, some leading meat firms are inclined to pessimism They believe the high prices will debar the French and other impoverished Continental nations from largely increasing their consumption.
