INFLUENZA DEATHS. SYDNEY, April 26
Revised figures show from January to April tilth there were 974 influefiza deaths.

SYDNEY, April 27
Tho week-end influenza position is sdhiewhat easier. There is a growing hope that the climax so far as the metropolitan area is concerned, may have been passed. Both the number of cases and the deaths have materially decreased. In the country, howovor, the disease continues to spread. Sonio towns arc suffering severely. In Victoria the position tends to improve, though the daily death roll is still considerable.
In South Australia and Tasmania the disease continues to claim a number of victims.
In Queensland the authorities are taking the strictest and most effective precautions and so far they have kept the influenza confined to the visiting shipping.
COMMISSION’S EFFORT., Oil ill ST CHURCH, April 26. Hon. Mr Russell states he has received a request from tlio influenza '•Epidemic! Commission for an extension of time for the completion of its report and will forward the request to tho Acting-Prime Minister with a view to granting the extension.
