RESOLUTIONS OF LOYALTY TO NEW ZEALAND.

Auckland, April 22,

The relation of the Jugo-Slavs to the War Regulation requiring them to undertake national service was discussed at a meeting of Jugo-Slavs held in Auckland on After along discussion the following resolutions were adopted :—“ That in view of the special conditions created by the fact that the special war legislation is still in force in New Zealand, this meeting strongly advises all Jugo-Slavs who have been, or are being, called up for national service, to strictly comply with the law, and to undertake national work at such places and under such conditions as tlie New Zealand Government may direct”; “ That this meeting prays that the war disabilities, so far as the JugoSlavs in New Zealand are concerned, may be removed, and that we may be looked upon and treated as friends and allies, and not considered as alien enemies ” ; “ That this meeting desires that the Jugo-Slavs in New Zealand should work unitedly and that the newly-elected committee should remain in office at least till the new Jugo-Slav State is recognised by the Allies”; “That this meeting directs that it shall he the duty of the newly- ; elected committee to preserve, and if possible strengthen, its position as regards the standing and recognition by the New Zealand Government which the provisional committee has secured, and is handing over to the new committee ” ; “ That this meeting directs that the newly-elected con” mittee and all sub committees should work in concord with the authorities, with the object of giving effect to the above resolutions, and to assist both the Commissioner and the men on national works, so as to establish a good understanding between the New Zealand authorities and the JugoSlavs in the Dominion.”
