MONDAY, April 41th. The annual statutory meeting was held ajt 2.30 p.m., Present—Messrs 11. L. Michel, (Chairman) J. 11. Wilson J. F. Grierson, J. J. Breeze and H. J. Hopkins. The minutes were confirmed and out ward eorrespondenced approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From James Milkier acknowledging leave granted during illness.—Received. From J. F. Grierson, and H. J. Ho]>kins, Christchurch, several formal* letters. —-Received. From Controller and Auditor General returning balance sheet certified to, — Received. From Inspector of Police acknowledging letter re suspicious fires. —Received. The Secretary reported receipts £lO4 11s 9d, payments £142 12s Od, credit balance £32 15s Id—Received. From Secretary reporting there were no discrepancies on the Watchman’s tell-tale clock for the last four months — Received and considered satisfactory. From Superintendent Braddon reporting the gear in good working order. Since last meeting there were five calls. A most, disturbing feature in connection therewith was that four of them of them were without doubt due to the acts of au incendiary whose last two attempts both at the same time 3.30 a'.m. were of a criminal and most serious nature and might easily have resulted in loss of life and great loss of property.— Received. Accounts amounting to £7(5 14s 100 were passed for payment. The Board then rose.
