The Southland Autumn meeting opened in perfect weather. The track was slightly holding. The attendance was large. The tote took £17,646 10s, compared with £10,464. 10s last season. Results:—
ROSLYN HANDICAP.— Martifors 1, Erroneous 2, Lady Knight 3. Won by three lengths. Time 1.16 2-5.
WAYERLEY TROT.—Dandy Chimes 1, G. M. Dillon 2, R-oyal Step 3. Won by a length. Time 3.32 1-5.
SOUTHLAND CUP.—Marsa 1. Tin Soldier 2, Burdangong 3. Won bv a length and a half; third a: bead away. Roj'al Star and Golden King fell. Time 2.9 2-5. SOUTHLAND STEEPLECHASE— Palladio 1, Zarkom 2, Peary 3. Won by fifteen lengths. Cliappel Molt, Boro, Silverspire and Grafton Tot fell. The first-named was killed, and the rider (J.
