AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of tlie Hokitika Branch of the Cantcrlmry Automobile Association was hold in the County Chambers on to 10th, inst, .Mr. G. Davidson presiding. it was decided that an opening run of the local branch will take place at an early date. A letter was received from the Resident Engineer, Greymoiith, notifying the acceptance of the offer by the Canterbury Automobile Association to contribute £SO towards the cost of bridging four open water ways at Callaghans, on the Kumara-Ilokitika road, and stating that the work would be carried out by the maintenance staff as opportunity offers.—Received. It was stated that the Association was finding the cost of the material and the Public Works Department were finding the labour for the work. The oiler was received with thanks. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr. J. C. Malfroy for the good work be lias done in connection with getting a vote passed for the bridging of the streams on the Wairnea Kumara road. It was resolved that the state of the guise on the boundary road, joining Kanieri and Blue Spur roads be brought under the notice of the Borough and County Councils, and that early attention be asked to be given to its removal.
