PEACE CELEBRATIONS.

GENERAL ARRANGEMENTS. Monday and Tuesday of the week selected for the Peace celebrations will be declared public holidays. During the Peace celebrations all Government buildings will be suitably beilagged and otherwise decorated. Tn addition to British Hags, those of the Allies will be displayed prominently. At noon on Monday a silent bare-

headed tribute for one minute will be paid universally to the brave and honoured dead and all trains and trams will temporarily cease running, and all , employment cease whilst the tribute is being paid. During the Peace celebrations, all Returned Soldiers wilf be expected to near their uniforms and will be placed in positions of honor. The day set apart for the children (Tuesday) is regarded as not the least important .of the functions and is intended to specially impress the minds of the young with the great event celc. bra tod. A souvenir Peace Medal for every school child on the rolls will bo provided bv the Government.

The Government will provide also for the railway fares of lleturned men to the nearest town where celebrations are held; and the railway fares of children from rural schools to the nearest town. Suitable railway services will he provided and announced later.
