OKARITO RACES.

The Okarito races took place in the Okarito racecourse on Tuesday last and proved highly successful. The following are the results. MAIDEN RACE.—Master Gift 1, Beach Gold 2. OKARITO CUP.—Moarta 1, Mulga Bill 2. WATAROA HANDICAP.—Beach Gold 1, Blazing Star 2. WAIIIO HANDICAP.—MuIga Bill 1 Repeat 2. SOUTHERN HANDICAP.—Master Gift 1, Miss Gift 2. FAREWELL HANDICAP.—Repeat 1, Clemency 2. There were good fields, no less than nine starters in each race. . Master Merle Kane, son of Mr. It. Fane of Hokitika had a field day in the saddle, piloting home five winners, and riding the second horse, (Mulga Bill), in the other event on the programme, the Okarito Cup.
