ANGLO-AUSTR ALIAN WIRELESS,
LONDON, March 18,
In reference to the Anglo-Australian wireless proposal, Mr Godfrey Isaccs states that an Australian station capable of transmission to England could be constructed in a year. The tariff for messages would average only a third of the present cable rates, and would not qost the Australian Government a penny.
RAILWAY COMPANIES OFFER
LONDON, March 18
The British Railway Companies have offered the railwaymen new proposals. These are stated to go a long way towards a settlement. Mr Thomas was informed of them before going to Paris to see Mr Lloyd George.

It is officially reported that the Eastern Extension Cable Co. is transferring its head office to Melbourne from Sydney. It is understood that Mr Bourke (Superintendent of the Melbourne Office) succeeds Mr. Webster as General Superintendent for Australia and New Zealand. ' Mr Hendry is also retiring.

The Taintti has sailed from Plymouth with five hundred New Zealanders, including convalescents.

Turks have renewed the persecution of Greeks and Armenians in Asia Minor on a large scale. Patriarchs are jointly protesting to the Allies.
EGYPTIAN RIOTERS KILLED. (Received This Day at 8.45 a.m.) CAIRO, March 18. Seventeen rioters were killed and eighty-two wounded.

Serious disturbances are occurring in Korea, in. connection with the peoples’ demand for independence.
MINERS STRIKE. (Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, March 19. Forty thousand Nottinghamshire min ers have struck .demanding an increase of rates for work in abnormal places. COAL COMMISSION’S REPORT. (Received This Dav at 10.15. n.-A.i LONDON, March 19. Probably the Coal Commission will present three separate reports. They recommend a Hat rate advance of 3s daily. BOLSHEVIK CENTRES. AMSTERDAM, March 19. Radek reported at Petrograd that, twenty-eight Bolshevik organisations were established in Germany. EVACUATING ODESSA. • PARIS, March 18. The Allies arc evacuating Odessa, owing to the disturbed states of the city, which the Bolsheviks are approaching.
