POLLARD’S PICTURES.
On Thursday evening at the Princess Theatre Pollard’s will present a double aitraction, one being the screening of Hie World's Film, “The Cross Bearer,” and the other the special engagement of Mr Leslie Belcher who will be remembered as the silvery tenor of the Fisks. He is now under engagement to Mr Tom Pollard and will sing a number of items among them being “God Send You Back to Me.’’ and “Come Sing to Me.” “The Cross Bearer” featuring Montagu Love as Cardinal Mereier the courageous and beloved Prelate of Belgium is a picture of international importance—it is an appeal whose historicscenes arc international and has an enthralling love story interwoven. It is a drama that all the world, outside Germany should see.
Jeanne Eagles as Liance, is a beautiful young ward of the beloved Cardinal She loves and is loved by a Belgian officer. The son of a pro-Gennan banker desires her. Then conies the invading hordes and the German Commander also desires her . Her lover, at the risk of his life, comes to her through the enemy’s lines and they are married at midnight. With the connivance of the Iraitorius banker’s son, the German Commander makes it appear to th e young husband that his wife is false to him, while to the young wife it appears that her husband is a traitor. “Stranger Disposed” the Bth chapter of the Mysters of the Double Cross will also bo screened.
