DISTRICT RACING COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the Distric Committee was held at the Club room Greymouth, last evening. Present:— Messrs M. Hannan, (chair), Walton Bignell, Smith, Gilbert and Evans. Mr Donnellan appeared in regard ti the adjourned enquiry respecting matters affecting the disqualification of Tip-Up at Keofton where tho horse was ridden by an unlicensed rider. Mr Don nellan stated he would rebut certain statements made in respect to himself, and had witnesses to call from Westport and Nelson Creek. He did not wish to incur the expense of bringing this evidence to Greymouth. A local , witness was in attendance and ready to I give evidence. It was explained that Mr Donnellan must present his own case and could call what evidence lie wished. The costs would rest with himself. Finally after prolonged argument, it was entirnatcd the Committee would deal finally with the matter on t-ho 4th prox., when any evidence to be tendered must be forthcoming that evening. A jockeys’ license was granted to Ernest Edward Grahame of Westport. The applications of W. Hannan, D. Dennett. (Westport), and W. D. Allal'. (Hokitika), were held over for enquiry, The Chairman referred to the fact that the Secretary of the District Committee was acting without salary. After discussion it was resolved to vo e the Secretary, (Mr Fogarty), an honornruim of £SO per annum, and on the motion of Mr Evans, seconded by Mr. : Gilbert, a levy of £<s 10s per day i t rqcing was levied on the six ciul.r-, (with fourteen days’ racing), within the racing district, to provide the amout t. Racing dates for the New Year fixtures were discussed and the meeting concluded, | The ordinary meeting of-the Grevlnouth Jockey Club was held subsequently, at which Messrs tHannen (chair), Walton, Bignell, Smith, Parfitt and Latta were present. Aplications were received front two Greymouth Bands to play at the forthcoming meeting, but it was decided to postpone tlie selection until next picc:ing. The matter of choosing dates for the 1919-2(1 raping season was left oyer until next meeting, pending a Conference with the Trotting Club ,
