INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.
fAUSTRALIAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION] AUSTRALIAN DEATHS. February 27.. At Melbourne there were seven deaths to-day from influenza and at Sydney one. The N.S.AV. Government proposes to introduce a hill to adjust losses caused by the closing of places of amusement and business under the influenza restrictions.

WELLINGTON, February 27
It was reported at a meeting of the Hospital Board to-dav that a letter had been sent to the Minister of Public Health asking if -tlio period for quaranino of vessels arriving from infected ports could be further extended, so that at least seven days should elapse from the day of the vessel leaving an infected port to the clearance of same. It was stated also that the chairman had received a letter from the President. of the Local Medical Association strongly favouring an extension of quarantine to seven clear days.
