fAUSTRALIAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION^ COAL MINES QUESTION. LONDON, Feb. 24. Labour members moved an amendment in the House of Commons, in favour of refusing to submit the question of the nationalisation of the coal mines to a Royal Commission. This was negatived. There were 250 against it and 43 in favour. MINERS AND GOVERNMENT. LONDON, Feb. 24. In the House of Commons, on the second reading debate on the Coal Commissions Bill, a remarkable divergence of opinion was revealed. The Miners and other Labour Members demanded that the Government should immediately grant the wages and increase, and hours of reduction the men claimed. Mr Lloyd George refused to agree to another Government conference with the miners, as, he said, the Government did not possess the requisite fundamental data.
