The riunket Shield match, Auckland versus Canterbury was resumed to-day, the conditions being perfect in every respect. Canterbury continued their lirst innings, which closed for 291 (Jones .10, Wood 95, Brunton 40, Thomas 75, Gray 27, AlcEwan 17, Howell not out 9).
Smith got- six wickets for 109, and Coates 3 for 63.
Auckland made 142 (Hemus 41, Horspool 11, Sloman 20, Beveridge 19). Mcßeth got. nine wickets for 56, and McEwan 1 for 54.
At the call of time Canterbury in their second innings had lost four wickets for 209 (Lusk 94, Jones 51, Wood 25, Hayes, not out 22.)
