(1. AV. Russell in his telegraphic replies. The Chairman j said lie did not see how such a personal question had any hearing on the matter before the Commission. Auckland was | big enough to answer the question itself. [ All' Guiison f agree that Auckland is big enough and distinguished enough to brush aside personalities. He urged 1 that the status of the Porth Health Officers in the four chief centres should be raised and the salaries increased to allracl the best; men of the medical profession. He ioiulemned the dual control between Health officer and municipality.
