AUSTRALIAN N.Z. CARLE ASSOCIATION] CANTERBURY’S EPIDEMIC. * CHRISTCHURCH, Jan 29. The cost of the influenza epidemic in North Canterbury was £14,262. The Board recommended the Minister to provide a uniform pension in connection with influenza for widows of ten shillings, and for boys up to fifteen years and girls up to sixteen. The Hoard resolved: that Miss Thurston, Lady Superintendent, at present on leave for military duties, bo given six months leave on full pay and engagement by the Defence Department, with a view of terminating her engagement with the Board.
