REPATRIATION BOARD.

CANTERBURY APPOINTMENTS

WELLINGTON, Jan. 27. The Repatriation Board made a number of appointments at a meeting held to-day.

Captain T. M. Charters has been appointed to be District Repatriation Officer for the Canterbury district. This is the last of the four officers for these duties to be appointed, those for the other three districts haying been nnnouii cod. The following appoinments were made to Hie District Repatriation Board for Canterbury :-^ Messrs A, W. Jamieson (Industrial Association), W. Goss, (V ,M.C.A.) P. Davidson, (Chamber of Commerce), C, H. Hewlett, (Efficiency Board), A, FDrayton, (Employers’ Association), F, W. Hobbs, (Wav Relief Association), D. Jones, (Farmers Union), E, J, Howard (Trades and Labour Council), J. j G. Milton, (Citizens’ Defence Corps), ■ H. S. J. Goodman, (Second- Division League), N. B. McCnllum, (Returned ; Soldiers), W. Charters, of Beckenham, ! and of Messrs Kinsey ami Co., and he himself is in the employ of Messrs Kinsey and Co., having obtained from them leave to go to the front. Captain Charters left New Zealand in charge of flip major portion of the 20th Reinforcements, find was officer commanding the troops on that particular trip of the Ruahine, He saw a considerable amount of service on the Western front, and was eventually invalided t(*- England in March last with an injury to his hip, remaining in hospital until he was sent back to New Zealand, where he arrived in October. Since then he has made good progress towards recovery, and received his discharge at the beginning of this month, his intention being to resume his employment with Messrs Kinsey and Co. on Monday next. Captain Charters since lijs return to New Zealand has been posted tp thp Territorials with the rank of major. In prewar da vs he was officer commanding

the local “C” Company. Amongst other tilings Captain Charters was a well-known and popular vocalist. Col o»ol A. lv. Charters, C.M.G. D.S.Q., is a brother of Captain Charters.
