TAUSTRALIAN & X.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION] LABOUR’S TROUBLE. LONDON, Jan. 25. Additional pits in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire were idled on Friday. The Clyde situation continues serious, but unanimity among the workers was not attained. It is now stated the Union disavows the Government emplovees. Many large establishments at Clyde decided to remain at work pending the Union’s official instruction< N.Z. drivers wages. WELLINGTON, January 28. The New Zealand Drivers’ Conference, having failed to come to an agreement with the federated employers, a deputation from the New Zealand Transport Workers Advisory Board will interview the Hon. V . H. Herries, Acting Minister of Labor, to-day, suggesting that au official attempt be made to obtain au agreement. It is understood that the drivers offered a settlement on the basis of 70s weekly, and the provisions of a 48-hour week. 'l'li,, employers' offer is GOs, with the right to earn Is or 5s extra for attendance on stores in excess of 48 hours. The men consider the latter concessions to he very limited. They have apparently convinced the Transport workers that their ease is worthy of support, and the situation which now threatens is similar to that which arose when the Arbitration Court's hist award iu the drivers’ dispute v.as approved by the men.
