ARAHUIIA FAT STOCK SALE

The usual fortnightly fixture at the above yards was held- yesterdaywhen a total of 83 head of prime cattle were submitted to public auction. The weather conditions were atrocious and materially affected the appearance of the stock sold. Competition was fairly keep, throughout the sale, but buyers restricted their prices in sympathy with Addington nlnd other markets. Beef shewed] a slight decline on last sale at these yards. Ox beef ranging, from 40s to 44s per hundred. Cow beef, of which there was a very heavy yarding, ranged from 34s to 40s per hundred, while heifer beef sold at about last sale prices.. The whole yarding, however, was cleared, vendors realising that there must very shortly he a considerable drop in prices. Owing to bad weather, the advertised line of fat sheep was not yarded. , Messrs Jeffries and Co. sold on account of Mr J. Collett, 2 bullocks at £ls 17s Gd, 1 at £ls 15s, 3 at £l4, 3 at £l2 ss, 1 cow at £8 15s, 1 at £lO ss, 1 at £9, 1 heifer at £lO 7s 6d, 3 vealers at £7 ; on account Mr J. Diodrich, 5 bullocks at £ls, 6 at £l3 15s, 4at £ll 17s (id;*on account of Messrs O’Neill Bros., 3 heifers at £l2, 3 at £9 15s, 1 at £l2 ss, 3 at £lO, 5 at £9 12s Gd, 4 at £9,2 cows at £l2, 1 at £ll 17s Gd.

Messrs G. W. Moss and Co. sold on account of Mr H. Adamson, 2 bullocks at £l7 15s, 2 at £l7 ss, 6 at £l7. 4 at £l6, 2 at £ls ss, 3 heifers at £lO 15s, 1 at £l2 12s Gd, and 7 at £l2.

M. Houston and Co. report as follows:—We hold our usual sale at the. above yards yesterday—our entry coin- ( prising 17 head of fat cattle. Owing' to the very large yarding, all round, beef showed a decided decline from previous sale, especially for cow and. heifer beef. There were fewer buyers present than usual and competition was not at till keen. We sold on account of Mr. 11. Diedrichs, 3 bullocks at £ls, 1 at £l4 17s Gd, 3 at £l4 17s 6d ; 3 heifers at £lO 17s 6,2 heifers (passed) at £ll ss; 6 heifers (passed), at £lO 15s.
