GOV-MINERS STRIKE.
f AUSTRALIAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION]
industrial outlook. LONDON, January Z2.
Reports from various parts of the country indicate that there is a serious industrial unrest prevailing. It will require prompt and tactful handling bv the Government. •
Although the coal miners ultimatum for a 30 per cent increase and shorter hours is not accompanied by a time limit, the situation continues to cause anxiety. Meanwhile there is the strike involving 200,000 Yorkshire miners. This is iii consequence of the Yorkshire Miners Association’s decision to call out all the men and boys on Thursday, owing to the employers looking out 40,000 men and boys for taking twenty minutes for food time.
The Yorkshire Association adds that it will withdraw the wholo of the colliery workers unless a settlement is reached by noon on Saturday.
