THE PEACE CONFERENCE.
THE ABSORBING TOPIC. TO COUNTERACT BOLSHEVISM. f AUBTB ALIAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION (Received This Day at 11.15 a.ru.) LONDON, January 21. The “Evening Standard's” Bans correspondent says Russia is the most ** absorbing problem. Many delegates are deeply concerned and consider Russia should be represented. Though there aro a number of distinguished Russians present in Paris, it is felt if they alone were consulted it will arm the Bolshevists with fresh arguments, with which to appeal to their countrymen espdeially peasants. One difficulty is that of communication, but wireless appeal could bo sent world wide and could be intercepted, by the Bolshevists and might assist in assuring them that the Conference genuinely desired a: real Russian representation. It is understood the British delega es favoured such an appeal, hut it was not adopted, because some delegates still refuse dealing ««> the Bolsl,ev,.t. yet it is felt the present position is intolerable.
MR GOMPERS APPROVES. (Received This Day at 1.5. p.m.) WASHINGTON.- Jan 23. Mr Gompers states he approved of the Paris decision in reference t'o Russia.
