The proposed works are estimated to cost £90, 000. PRICE OF BREAD. DUNEDIN, January 17. Local members of Parliament have received from the Hon. AV. D. S. MacDould, Minister of Agriculture, the following telegram in reply to theirs: “Referring to your telegram regarding bread prices; when the matter of the new Hour prices is under consideration, I will ask tile Board of Trade to submit a report on the best method of preventing an increase in .bread prices. Meantime, it is unlikely that there will be any increases in bread prices till March Ist.”

SALE OF MILK. WELLINGTON, January 19. On Monday the AVar Regulations of the Government regarding the sale of milk will come into operation in "Wellington. No other place in Now Zealand is concerned. The regulations were gazetted fin September last hut do not apply, except in boroughs “declared” by the Minister of Internal Affairs.

On and after Mo no ay, if will be “unlawful for any person whether as principal, agent, or. otherwise (other thon the Corporation and its servants or agents)— (a) to sell milk ; (b) to deliver milk in pursuance of a contract of sale made, whether within the borough or .elsewhere; or (e) to have milk in posession for sale, save under a license issued in that behalf by the Council of the Borough, and in accordance with the terms and conditions thereof. The City Council’s new scheme then will operate from Morn ay next, when the Council will have practically a monopoly.
