Thiele. “Thar I tho settlers of this district are unanimously and definitely of the opinion that- no company should be allowed to lav a tramline on the Bold Head Road formation. In the event of the Council granting tlie use of the side of the Road Reserve provision should bo mado for the free use of the rails for the purpose of gravelling the road. Seconded by Mr. TV. Searle and carried. 1 A discussion followed on the reading of two telegrams which were as fol- j lows: — | To S. G. Ferguson, Fergusons.—Re-, cent correspondence from County Connoil ro Bold Hoad Road. Public meet-j iug here on Wednesday 18th to discuss , same. McKay. “While the settlers of this district have no personal feeling against llr. S. G. Ferguson, they are forced voluntarily to the conclusion that ns long as Mr. I*erguson continues to represent this riding in the Westland County Council, the wishes and interests' of the rate payers will not receive the support from him to which they are entitled. Seconded by Mr. J. Hewer and carried. Moved by Mr. J. Hewer: “That a Settlers Association be formed for the purpose of furthering the interests of the district as a whole, Seconded by Mr. AY. Berry, anti carried unanimously. The settlers also wish it to be known that the petitions presented, to the County Council at the last meeting protesting against Stuart and Chapman Ltd. being allowed to lay a tram line on tho formation of Bold Hoad Road Reserve, were signed by fully 120 settlers and ratepayers extending from Waitaha Settlement to Bruce Bay, a fact which emphasises the unanimity of the southern people on the whole question.
